LOGIS is the Commercial Representative of the Atyrau river port in Europe and the CIS.
Within the framework of this representation LOGIS implements the program of the port's development, increasing the cargo flow and upgrading the port's infrastructure and mechanization means.
Already in the Year 2004 there was a new access road built from the berth to the city exit, the railroad track was renovated and upgraded, and a series of activities were completed on examining the berth installations. The completion of these activities facilitated the receipt of four sea barges with outsize and overweight cargoes measuring up to 57 meters in length and weighing up to 120 metric tons. The unique operation on reloading the cargoes from the barges onto trucks was completed using railroad recovery trains having a lifting capacity of up to 250 tons. This was widely reported by the local newspapers.

Background

The city of Atyrau is located on the Ural, 45 kilometers away from the Caspian.

River transportation down the Zhai'yk river began in 1927.

Cargoes coming from Guryev to Uralsk were carried on open boards of several steam boats.

During WWII oil tankers were delivering the Embin oil via the Caspian to Astrakhan.

The Guyev river port was established in 1964 and cargo lifting equipment started moving in.

In 1982, following a reconstruction the river port became mechanized: three port cranes were installed, a railroad rack built. The fleet received new motorships and tug-boats.

Due to the current development of the Caspian shelf the water-borne traffic in the area is expected to build up very rapidly. With that in mind, currently, there are plans on dredging the Ural-Caspian sea channel.
